Following the arrival of Ethan (1 week over due) Laura contacted me to arrange Ethan’s newborn session – and here is a peek of a few images of gorgeous Ethan, at only 6 days old! Although it may not seem like an obvious time for a baby portrait, this is a wonderful time, as these precious early days when babies are so tiny flies by so quickly! And before you know it, your little one has doubled in size and you will have missed this wonderful opportunity!

The main focus of this shoot was to capture Ethan, however it was also a great opportunity to capture Ethan’s mum and dad too! Laura and Mark were very laid-back during their session, which gave me the best opportunity to capture lots of gorgeous images of Ethan!

The best time to book a newborn session is when your baby is ideally under 14 days old, I find when they are around 10 days old this is the perfect time when they are most sleepy. This is a good age as you can capture their tiny little features and when they can curl up into cute positions.

All newborn sessions are held in the comfort of my warm studio but I can also come to your own home if you prefer. I work around your routine, in a relaxed, unhurried way. I love using handcrafted accessories in my sessions from wicker baskets to cute hand knitted hats and use any of your props that are personal to you, to make this event special to you for many years to come.

The next session of Ethan will be when he is 6 months old, there will be a big difference in the next post I do of Ethan, I’m looking forward to it!

I then got chatting with my Hair and Make-up Artist Gemma Sutton who is also a brilliant stylist! We discussed the theme and look that we wanted to create for the shoot and Gemma brought along some amazing outfits. We decided to do the shoot on location in an enchanted forest which set the mood. I used natural light for this look to create a soft and dreamy feel to the photographs. There are so many costs in running your business that often getting professional headshots taken is something that gets put to the bottom of the to-do list. I wanted to write a post to ensure that this goes right to the top of your list!

I think it is important to have a professional photo taken as this will give a professional finish to your image of your company. These photos are great to use on either your website, Linked In, Facebook, Twitter etc. I like to give my clients a choice of either having their photo taken in the studio if they have a formal image or a lifestyle shoot if their company is a small business and has more of a relaxed image. Either way these headshots can look great and give a professional finish.

I do offer a professional hair and makeup stylist as some of my previous clients prefer to add something a little extra special to their shots. The hair and makeup is kept professional and gives a natural, glowing look!

Here is an example of a recent headshot photoshoot with Sandra who owns her own company called Evolving Business Solutions. Sandra was looking for a mixture of headshots that would work for her website, Linked In page, promotional material and Facebook page. As it was a gorgeous sunny day we decided to do some relaxed headshots out on location and then some more formal shots in the studio. Sandra was very pleased with the end results as she told me she hated having her photo taken! Here are some of the photos from our session…
